After they shot the Fin scene everyone went for a break, so once again I went looking for some tea to warm me up. On my way back I saw this guy and took his picture before ...
... I realized that he was with one of the crew. The guy walked to the fake store and it was then that it became clear that he was one of the actors. :D
During one of the earlier breaks, when I had walked away, one of the onlookers told me they shot a scene where the party van sped off so I suspect that the van was carrying the kidnapped boy when it sped off.
In this scene below, for which they were doing a practice run, Olivia stood outside of the party store, behind the suspect clown's car with her gun out and when the clown came out of the store holding balloons Olivia screamed, "Freeze police!", and Stabler, also with his gun out, ran up to the clown and got him up against the car and they both questioned the clown about the missing boy. After being frightened by them screaming at him the clown released his balloons.
During the questioning he told them something to the effect of him being at the store all day and then he showed them his van and told them that it had been broken for some time and as such hadn't moved off the lot. While Stabler was checking out the van, he got a phone call that seemed to say that the child was spotted elsewhere and he and Benson ran to get into their car. As they were leaving the clown said something like, "Who's going to pay for the lost bunch of balloons?", and Olivia said something like, "Bill the city." I was not close enough to hear the exact dialogue, but that was the gist of it.
Chris seemed to be pleased with how the rehearsal went.
They then set up for the real taping and asked all of us to wait across the street. In order to get a better viewing spot, I ended up going up some stairs and that is why there are branches on the peripheries of my photos. While I was up on the stairs I saw a Mourning Dove nest! HOW COOL! I LOVE Birds!! :D :D
This picture is NOT mine. It is from Wikipedia.
The clown then came back in full costume and they rehearsed the scene again, but this time with a real nice bunch of balloons, not just the cheap, skimpy orange set from before.
You could tell it was just a rehearsal because Mariska kept her coat on during it. In the second photo it looks like she is saying something like, "Heh, what you doing down there?!" :D I don't know what she really said. I am just saying that that is what the picture looks like. :)
Everything went well with the rehearsal, except that the balloons ended up getting stuck in a tree. They were prepared though and had another bunch ready to go.
They discussed the scene some more ...
... and then they started to tape the scene for real.
There was one problem though ...
... the new set of balloons kept getting stuck on the clown and would not fly up, so after they fiddled around with the rigging on the balloons they did another take and ...
... once again the balloons got stuck and would not fly up! Everyone got a great chuckle out of the mess up and Chris started acting like he was flying away with imaginary balloons! :D :D
Finally, after some more fiddling with the balloons, the balloons went up without a hitch and they were able to finish filming the scene.
They then brought in Benson's and Stabler's car and repositioned all of the camera equipment from pointing towards the store to facing away from the store so that they could film the actors speaking from a different angle.
Right when they were about to shoot, several interruptions occurred. "Radio Man", as I have heard others call him, stopped by the set and spoke with Mariska ...
... and then a SUPER CUTE doggie started running around getting everyone's attention ... and then out of nowhere a man started screaming at the cast about how they should not film in the neighborhood because they were disturbing the peace and that they should pay all the residents for filming there.
The cast and crew took it all in stride and laughed it off ...
... and then got back to work.
At the end of the filming of the scene, Mariska hugged the clown. :)
They then broke for dinner and Mariska and Chris went over towards the fans. You could tell that Chris really likes children.
I finally got up the nerve to ask Chris for his autograph! :D
I left afterward. From what I heard they ended up filming till quite late that night.
HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PICS!! :D

I kind of don't blame the guy who was tired of them filming! I remember once a movie was being filmed on my street and we were not allowed to park near our house. It was soooo inconvenient.
This is another great set of pictures Lee.
I enjoyed the pics again. Those pictures were great. I like to see these before those show though - I hadn't been to the site in a while and I saw this episode last week. Funny you went into the fake store.
Great pictures! I'm Courtney, we met when SVU was filming the season finale this spring on April 28th. We walked with Mariska a bit and you asked about the pictures of August. I just wanted to say thank you so much for taking such amazing pictures!
