MON. May 17th

Photobucket

(PART 1 OF THIS POST CAN BE FOUND HERE.)

After they shot the Fin scene everyone went for a break, so once again I went looking for some tea to warm me up. On my way back I saw this guy and took his picture before ...

Photobucket

... I realized that he was with one of the crew. The guy walked to the fake store and it was then that it became clear that he was one of the actors. :D

Photobucket

During one of the earlier breaks, when I had walked away, one of the onlookers told me they shot a scene where the party van sped off so I suspect that the van was carrying the kidnapped boy when it sped off.

In this scene below, for which they were doing a practice run, Olivia stood outside of the party store, behind the suspect clown's car with her gun out and when the clown came out of the store holding balloons Olivia screamed, "Freeze police!", and Stabler, also with his gun out, ran up to the clown and got him up against the car and they both questioned the clown about the missing boy. After being frightened by them screaming at him the clown released his balloons.

Photobucket

During the questioning he told them something to the effect of him being at the store all day and then he showed them his van and told them that it had been broken for some time and as such hadn't moved off the lot. While Stabler was checking out the van, he got a phone call that seemed to say that the child was spotted elsewhere and he and Benson ran to get into their car. As they were leaving the clown said something like, "Who's going to pay for the lost bunch of balloons?", and Olivia said something like, "Bill the city." I was not close enough to hear the exact dialogue, but that was the gist of it.

Photobucket

Chris seemed to be pleased with how the rehearsal went.

Photobucket

They then set up for the real taping and asked all of us to wait across the street. In order to get a better viewing spot, I ended up going up some stairs and that is why there are branches on the peripheries of my photos. While I was up on the stairs I saw a Mourning Dove nest! HOW COOL! I LOVE Birds!! :D :D

Photobucket

This picture is NOT mine. It is from Wikipedia.

The clown then came back in full costume and they rehearsed the scene again, but this time with a real nice bunch of balloons, not just the cheap, skimpy orange set from before.

Photobucket

Photobucket

You could tell it was just a rehearsal because Mariska kept her coat on during it. In the second photo it looks like she is saying something like, "Heh, what you doing down there?!" :D I don't know what she really said. I am just saying that that is what the picture looks like. :)

Everything went well with the rehearsal, except that the balloons ended up getting stuck in a tree. They were prepared though and had another bunch ready to go.

Photobucket

They discussed the scene some more ...

Photobucket

Photobucket

... and then they started to tape the scene for real.

There was one problem though ...

Photobucket

... the new set of balloons kept getting stuck on the clown and would not fly up, so after they fiddled around with the rigging on the balloons they did another take and ...

Photobucket

Photobucket

... once again the balloons got stuck and would not fly up! Everyone got a great chuckle out of the mess up and Chris started acting like he was flying away with imaginary balloons! :D :D

Photobucket

Finally, after some more fiddling with the balloons, the balloons went up without a hitch and they were able to finish filming the scene.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

They then brought in Benson's and Stabler's car and repositioned all of the camera equipment from pointing towards the store to facing away from the store so that they could film the actors speaking from a different angle.

Photobucket

Right when they were about to shoot, several interruptions occurred. "Radio Man", as I have heard others call him, stopped by the set and spoke with Mariska ...

Photobucket

... and then a SUPER CUTE doggie started running around getting everyone's attention ... and then out of nowhere a man started screaming at the cast about how they should not film in the neighborhood because they were disturbing the peace and that they should pay all the residents for filming there.

Photobucket

The cast and crew took it all in stride and laughed it off ...

Photobucket

... and then got back to work.

Photobucket

Photobucket

At the end of the filming of the scene, Mariska hugged the clown. :)

Photobucket

They then broke for dinner and Mariska and Chris went over towards the fans. You could tell that Chris really likes children.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I finally got up the nerve to ask Chris for his autograph! :D

Photobucket

I left afterward. From what I heard they ended up filming till quite late that night.

HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE PICS!! :D

MON MAR 29th

Photobucket

I will start with a WARNING: this is a Very Picture Laden Post. It has been so long since I have posted that I guess I am just making up for those past missed posts. :D Also, I know that a good number of you are mainly visiting here for SVU pics. I do love SVU, but I want people to know that those pics represent only a very small percentage of the type of pics I take. :D

Well Spring started this last week at 1:32 pm EST on Saturday, March 20th and NYC is definitely showing some WONDERFUL signs of the season. All one needs to do is take a walk through either Central or Riverside Park in order to see the fantastic proof.

In Central Park the birds sre definitely out! Some of these are just "the regulars", but I still find "the regulars" to be quite outstanding!

Let's start with the Common Grackle. The first three pictures are of Males. The first two pictures were taken last week and the last one I took a few years back.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

The next picture I also took a few years back and is of a Female CG and the one following (which is not my picture) is of a Juvenile CG.

Photobucket

Photobucket

The next bird is a Morning Dove and ....

Photobucket

.... this is a Male American Robin. In the second picture of the Robin you can see its translucent nictitating membrane, which is one of its three eyelids (the other two are the upper and the lower.) The membranes are used to clean and protect their eyes.

Photobucket

The next bird is a Downy Woodpecker. The first picture is from last week. The other pictures, which I took over the years, I am including so that you can see the differences between Males, Females, and Juveniles.

Photobucket

Male Downys have a red patch on the back of their heads.

Photobucket

Juvenile Downys, on the other hand, have their red patches on the top of their heads.

Photobucket

And Female Downys have no red patch at all.

Photobucket

The next bird from last week is the Red-bellied Woodpecker.

The first one is the Male and it has a complete red nape.

Photobucket

This pic, taken a while back, is of a Female and you can tell it is a female because she has an incomplete red nape.

Photobucket

You might ask why this woodpecker is called Red-bellied. It is not obvious in the above two pics, but as the season progresses their bellies become darker, as seen in this pic I took awhile back.

Photobucket

The next birds I saw last week were House Finches. The Male is red colored and the Female is brown. Occasionally, due to dietary changes, the Male can be orange or yellow colored, instead of red.

Isn't that Male's red eyebrow just Spectacular?! :D

While I was at the feeders in The Ramble in Central Park another birder/photographer spotted a pair of Cedar Waxwings. I thank that birder for pointing them out to me and I wish I could remember the birder's name. The CWs were so high up that I was only able to get this poor quality photo of them.

Photobucket

However, these birds are just TOO BEAUTIFUL for me to only put up that one bad picture of them so I am also posting up pictures I have taken of them in the past. They really are BEAUTIFUL Birds.

Photobucket

Photobucket

This picture that I took, also a while back, at Tanner's Spring is of a Juvenile Cedar Waxwing.

Photobucket

Also last week Central Park saw the first butterflies of the season. This picture is of a Mourning Cloak Butterfly and they are usually the first butterfly to appear in Spring. I took the picture about 10 days ago at the feeders in The Ramble.

Photobucket

All of the bird pictures above were taken at Central Park, but CP has far more than just birds, butterflies, and trees. As I was entering The Ramble on the east side, right by The Boathouse, I saw Marcia Gay Harden enjoying some ice cream with her son, Hudson. Just a typical day in Manhattan. Walk down the street and see a celebrity.

Photobucket

At first I thought I might have been mistaken and that it wasn't her, but then I found this 2007 photo which makes me think that my photo is indeed of her and her son.

Photobucket

Now don't think Central Park was having all the fun. :) Spring is also showing "its colors" in Riverside Park. Flowers are blooming all over the place. :D I don't know the names of flowers, except for a few, so if you know what these are feel free to leave me a comment with their names. TIA. I have some books on flowers and trees, so hopefully I will find some time to teach myself the names.

Riverside Park was also teeming with dogs! :D LOVE DOGGIES!! One of my favorite doggies that I regularly run into is an albino Basset Hound named Paul Newman (so named because of his eyes.) He is the most ADORABLE and FRIENDLY dog!

Photobucket

Things were hopping at the 105th St. Dog Run!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

And many CUTE doggies were out strolling with their owners.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I just LOVE this dog!!! Is it a Chow Chow? I don't know. I just know that to me it looks like what Aslan would look like if Aslan was transformed into a dog.

The dog ....

Photobucket

.... and Aslan.

Photobucket

Ball games also were staring up again, with both boys and girls playing softball/baseball. (I have no idea what is the difference between the two. Lol!)

Photobucket

Photobucket

A "lonely" toy caught my eye. :)

Photobucket

Finally, the kids of West 83rd St. knew what time of year it is! :D :D

Photobucket

Now on to the part that some are looking forward to the most. :D
